Writhe in the Recall - Brian Burns

Words uttered,
deeds unfettered,
land hard in their recall.
The fury of an exposed nerve.
Like that careless caress
of an inquisitive tongue.
The wince, the shudder,
then the silent thunder
echoing like a reverie.
You get to relive those moments
all teeth on aluminum foil.
Feeling forced
to knead and gnash.
Forever live in those imperfect moments.
When you allowed yourself to be free.
