She moves like gasoline

shuffling over broken

match floorboards

wearing scratch pad slippers

I sit on cracked leatherette

the colour of crushed charcoal

entranced by the flicker

behind emerald eyes

Sparks falling from

the crooks and curves

of a mischievous smile

Sitting here

eager kindling

waiting to burn
