Apocalypse

The world ended

with the words

that fell

from your doctors lips

Argument

I suppose it’s time for a long rambling rant

leading nowhere

Time to grab the cold metal scissors

snip out the science I agree with

Let the remainder of the dissertation

fall to floor

Join the theories and ideologies

I’ve dissected before

Gather up tailings and shavings

scraped off overheard discourse or lecture

I feel my scalpel has an intuition

My argument will be a seamless tapestry

Contradiction easily justified

in the merit of my cause

I am sure presenting facts

and complete documentation is well intended

but not at the expense of my agenda

It’s a fragile and delicate thing

Why else would I be shouting you down

eyes bulging and throat a full gush of anger

Your facts are no match

any more than proven truth

My fevered feelings

the real truth

Everything else must be burned away

in the furnace of this new religion
