Words and Illustration By Alex Goubar

ree

in the hot summer night I show you my stars

you trace the constellations with your finger

snuffing the lights out one by one

you snatch the moon from its nest

tearing a piece out with your teeth

like you’ve never been hungrier

I fell prey to your lupine grin

your chilling, measured sigh

and as you lick the regolith from your lips

you bring your gaze to me

and I catch the way your eyes linger

sparks sharp and alive

electric and virile

and I catch myself looking at you

in a way that maybe I shouldn’t

the night charged with something I’m not brave enough to name

wolf with wicked eyes

you lay me down in a bed of baby’s breath

and eat me alive
