The red demon had forced her to watch as it devoured her two smaller sisters, and now it was her turn. Even if she wanted to run, it had her shackled, and any slack had gradually been yanked away. Death loomed over her, and she knew hers would be just like the others: slow, methodical, and painful.

The demon held no malice, it was only acting upon its nature. It cared nothing for the tales, art, and songs she had inspired over her long life. For years, it had inched ever closer to her, and now it was ready to feast. Her death had been written as soon as she was born within its realm. Her body fated to become its next meal.

She felt its searing breath upon her back. Her hair was grasped and ripped away, leaving her bald and vulnerable to its scorching flames. Her hands dug into the soil and threw it upward, but the demon waved, scattering the dust into the air around them.

As he reached for her, all moisture on her skin evaporated, leaving deep canyons across her twisting body. With every lapping finger it placed on her, a new blackened mark appeared. With her strength failing, she cried out for her sisters, but all five remained silent, bound to their own chains and just as helpless to her as she had been to those before. It was only a matter of time before it was their turn.

Red-hot fangs sunk into her, and she released a surge of raw emotion containing every part of her essence. Her still beating heart burst from her chest, sizzling lifeblood trailing behind.  At one time, she had been called a mother to countless, but all her children had either perished or had abandoned her long ago. She would meet death alone; her corpse never to be found nor mourned.

She accepted her fate as the demon embraced her, consuming everything that had once made her the most beautiful, most lively of her seven sisters. Her flesh and organs fueled the demon’s relentless onslaught as it sought its next meal. Its insatiable appetite would drive it until it devoured each of her sisters. But one day it too would perish, destined to be swallowed by an all-consuming night.
